A planned 15-day overland route built around rail windows, short station transfers, and walkable city centers. It starts in Geneva, moves through northern Italy and Central Europe, and ends with a short flight to Dublin.

Geneva, Venice, Ljubljana, Graz, Bratislava, Brno, Prague, Wroclaw, Dublin.

Route at a glance

Days 1 and 2: Geneva, Switzerland

Start in Geneva. Walk around Lake Geneva and the Old Town, settle logistics, pick up a multi-country SIM card, and adjust to the time zone.

Days 3 and 4: Venice, Italy

Take the SBB EuroCity train through the Simplon Pass. Explore Venice on foot and stay in quieter Cannaregio rather than relying on the crowded vaporetto routes.

Days 5 and 6: Ljubljana, Slovenia

Take the GoOpti shuttle across the border. Ljubljana's car-free center makes it especially good for walking along the Ljubljanica River.

Day 7: Graz, Austria

Take the OBB regional train north. Climb the Schlossberg for views over the red-roofed old town, then spend time with the city's academic and architectural character.

Day 8: Bratislava, Slovakia

Travel through the Danube basin by EuroCity train. Bratislava has a compact medieval core that works well as a one-day stop.

Day 9: Brno, Czech Republic

Take the RegioJet train into Moravia. Brno has a lively student culture and a strong functionalist architecture thread, including Villa Tugendhat.

Days 10 and 11: Prague, Czech Republic

Arrive by RegioJet. Walk the Charles Bridge and Prague Castle early, then make time for the Jewish Quarter and Art Nouveau architecture.

Days 12 and 13: Wroclaw, Poland

Take a FlixBus across the Polish border. Wroclaw's islands and more than 100 bridges make the Rynek and Ostrow Tumski especially worthwhile on foot.

Days 14 and 15: Dublin, Ireland

Fly from Wroclaw to Dublin. Finish with the college campuses, urban parks, and a coastal walk in Howth or Dun Laoghaire before heading home.
