I went to El Poblado Gastro Bar at 37-61 79th Street in Jackson Heights, Queens, on a Thursday for their tomahawk rib eye and margarita pitcher deals.

The place is really cool. It feels like going directly back to my time in Medellin, which was really neat. It is super colorful inside, the people are friendly, and the whole place has a great vibe. It feels like you are going into a different country for the evening.

The tomahawk rib eye has gone up to $57. It used to be a little cheaper, but it is still a good deal for a tomahawk. It is not massive, but it is definitely big enough to split between two people. I would not try to split it between three people.

The tomahawk was pretty good. It was not some incredible, super-tender steak, but it was solid and worth the price. You are definitely getting a better deal on food than you would in Manhattan, although you are not getting a super deep discount at this point. The cost of beef is really high, so I understand why they cannot make it much cheaper.

The frozen margaritas were also good. Two margaritas cost $20, which is a pretty good deal. They also have Aguardiente, although I would warn you to be careful with that stuff. It is pretty rough, but also really fun.

The nachos appetizer was really good, so I recommend getting that as well.

This was a really good place for a group. It was not super crowded, and they had a table for six, so we brought six people. The service was super friendly and really nice. The servers do speak English, but it would be helpful if you spoke some Spanish. It is also a good opportunity to practice your Spanish.

We ended up going to a karaoke bar around the corner, and that was also really fun. El Poblado Gastro Bar was a great starting point for the night, especially because you are supporting a local business and getting a very authentic Colombian experience. More specifically, it felt like a Medellin Poblado experience, which I thought was really fun.
