NYC Weekday Lunch Deals by Borough

I did extensive research on weekday lunch values across NYC boroughs, trying to identify genuine deals where restaurants use midday hours to fill seats rather than just marketing gimmicks in deal clothing.

What Makes a Legitimate Lunch Deal

Before the list: what I’m looking for:

  • Price lower than à la carte ordering: not just a combo that costs the same as ordering separately
  • Consistent weekly availability: not a special that disappears
  • Drink included: not listed as an add-on
  • Adequate dining window: no obvious 90-minute table-turn pressure

Red flags: regular entree with soda at identical total cost, disappearing or unpredictable specials, drinks listed as additional charges, and rushed service that signals the deal is designed to be upsold out of.

French Prix Fixe (Best Value Category)

This is one of the better known deals for people who work in Midtown, but most people don’t realize how substantial the value is.

Paname Petite Brasserie (Midtown East): Two courses for $23 or three for $26, available daily noon to 3pm. Escargot, crab cakes, chicken paillard, crème brûlée at this price point. This is exceptional.

Boucherie West Village: Three courses at $33, weekdays 11am to 4pm. Long window is useful.

Red Eye Grill (Midtown): Two courses for $32, weekdays only.

Copinette (Midtown East): Three courses at $34, Monday-Friday noon to 3:30pm.

Paname is the standout. $23 for two courses in Midtown East is the closest thing to a real deal that category offers.

Pizza and Italian Casual (Wider Range, Multiple Boroughs)

Big John’s Pizza and Pasta (Queens Village): $4.75 daily rotating specials. In 2026, in New York, that number is striking. Worth the trip if you’re in the area.

Sicily’s Best Pizzeria (Bushwick): $7.00 with pasta or burger.

Michelangelo’s Pizzeria (Staten Island): $8.50.

Dino’s Pizzeria (Riverdale): $9.00 all-inclusive with hero or pasta, mini wedge, soda, and salad or fries. Good value for the Bronx.

Joe’s Pizza and Pasta (Queens): $9.99.

Genesis Pizza (Flushing): $10.40 with hot heroes, pasta, or wings plus fries and soda.

Goodfella’s Brick Oven (Staten Island): $16.00 with entree, salad, and beverage. Upper end of this category but still better than most Midtown options at the same price.

Top Picks by Category

  • French prix fixe: Paname Petite Brasserie
  • Budget Italian: Big John’s, Queens Village
  • Midrange Italian: Dino’s Pizzeria, Riverdale
  • Upscale casual: Goodfella’s, Staten Island
  • Best timing flexibility: Boucherie West Village

Superior deals emerge where restaurants genuinely attempt to populate slower service periods. The French prix fixe category is the clearest example of this working as intended: the restaurant wins by filling seats at lunch, you win by eating well for less than dinner.
